Monstrous Productions

Audio Fiction for the Strange at Heart

Monstrous Productions is an audio fiction production team based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Home of British Fantasy Award-winning Monstrous Agonies and all-new Travelling Light, we use empathy, compassion and creativity to explore the softer side of speculative fiction.

CONTRIBUTORS

  • A photo of an old man and a small child riding a helter skelter. The man is smiling and waving at the camera. The child is peering over the side of the slide, too small to see over it.

    Hero

    Co-Creator, Writer and Producer
    They/Them

Hero wears a lot of hats at Monstrous HQ. As well as being the principal writer and producer, they also play the lead voice role in both Monstrous Agonies and Travelling Light. When they’re not podcasting, Hero can usually be found in a pile of blankets and woolly jumpers, watching Doctor Who with their eyes closed.

  • A photo of a little boy wearing sunglasses and a grey sleeveless cardigan holding a ukulele and smiling

    Matt

    Co-Creator and Illustrator
    He/Him

Matt is an Irish artist and illustrator, and the co-creator of Travelling Light. He works with Hero to shape the story and style of the show, as well as drawing weekly episode illustrations. He has a lot of opinions about Star Wars, and will share them if you give him half a chance. That is a threat.

  • A photo of two children standing beside each other, looking at the camera and squinting in the sunlight. The taller has short hair and their face is painted as a clown. The shorter has blonde curly hair and their face is painted as a tiger

    Sophie

    Script and Story Editor
    She/They

As the script and story editor at Monstrous Productions, Sophie helps keep Hero’s writing on the straight and narrow. Or the queer and baroque, as the case may be. They also play the Understudy in Monstrous Agonies and host the end of season Q&As, as well as being hands down the best dressed person on the team.

OUR SHOWS

  • The Travelling Light logo, designed to look like embroidery. A green space ship and two planets, one orange, one blue, circle red letters spelling "Travelling Light".

    TRAVELLING LIGHT

Follow the Traveller on their journey through the stars as they collect stories for their community archive.

  • The Monstrous Agonies logo, teal against a black background. The logo is a complex puzzle cube with M on one face and A on another in a gothic font.

    MONSTROUS AGONIES

From werewolves in the doghouse to new ghouls at work, there's no problem too strange for this weekly advice segment for the creature community.
